About Me

Hi, I’m Kim, the owner and Speech-Language Pathologist at Sound Garden Speech Therapy. My husband and I relocated to Cardiff from the Midwest over a decade ago, and we feel incredibly fortunate to be part of this vibrant community. We have two daughters, and in our free time, you'll typically find us either hiking, playing sports, or unwinding at the beach.

I am licensed and nationally certified Speech-Language Pathologist with a Master of Science in Communicative Disorders from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. With extensive experience in the field, I have worked with children across all age groups, with a particular focus on early intervention and preschool-aged children. My career has provided me with diverse opportunities to support clients in a variety of settings, including public schools, private schools, preschools, private practice clinics, and in-home therapy. This broad range of experience has allowed me to develop a comprehensive understanding of the unique needs of children and families, while refining my skills in delivering individualized care.

Working with children and families is my passion! I strive to make therapy both fun and effective, focusing on engaging my clients while fostering strong connections with parents to ensure a collaborative and supportive approach.

I believe that speech therapy should be engaging, child-led, and most importantly, fun! I strive to help children communicate confidently and effectively through personalized, fun, and dynamic therapy sessions designed to meet each child’s unique needs. I prioritize a child-led therapy approach because I believe children learn best when they are actively engaged in the process. By following the child’s lead and incorporating their interests into each session, we ensure that therapy is not only effective but also enjoyable! Play-based strategies encourage creativity, exploration, and natural learning.
